Sharing Knowledge

Testimonial

"We have been delighted to be associated with the great work done at Leeds Metropolitan University on health and wellbeing. We have been impressed by their passion for this area of work and the way in which they have engaged with outside partners as well as their own staff. Their Wellbeing website is in a league of its own and has been designed with the user in mind - not always the case with such sites. We are proud to be associated with John and his team."

Peter Barnard, Registrar, Grimsby Institute of Further & Higher Education

The success of the wellbeing excellence programme has enabled us to share our expertise and knowledge beyond the confines of the organisation. A number of public sector organisations are now working with us to support their own wellbeing programme.

As a result we now have partners in four public sector areas; local authority, healthcare, higher education and further education. This extends the reach of the programme to include over 120,000 staff and students.

At a more specialist level, we have a number of centres that are aligned to and support the excellence programme. Carnegie Weight Management has provided support for children and families for a number of years, running weight management camps over the summer period and working with Primary Care Trusts across the region. Our Centre for Men’s Health has developed a joint venture with NHS and other partners to provide resources and support for men’s health issues – Tackling Men’s Health. Activities have included events at Leeds Rhinos matches and the publication of a Haynes manual to the Yorkshire Man. Led by Professor Alan White, this centre is long-established and has a significant reputation across the NHS, HE and the region.
